New research shows that the average UK citizen takes almost a year off sick during their working career. The National Sickness Report surveyed 2,000 full-time workers to look at their current health and gauge their attitude towards sickness which revealed that:
– Workers take an average 360 days sick leave during a 45 year career
– A third of full-time workers only receive Statutory Sick Pay of £86.70 per week
– 131 million working days are lost annually in Britain due to sickness – the equivalent of 8 days per worker
This means that workers who are absent and are without a company sick pay scheme could end up thousands of pounds out of pocket. Is it time that you looked at income protection and health insurance?
